Why do St. Thomas Creations water closets operate on 1.6 gpf (gallons per flush)? The National Energy Policy Act of 1992 mandates that all water closets sold in the United States after January 1, 1994 shall be 1.6 gpf maximum. Older models (produced before January 1994) often used 3.5 gpf or more. All St. Thomas Creations water closets are designed specifically to perform using 1.6 gpf or less.
What does “Quattro Flushing Technology” mean? Quattro Flushing Technology is St. Thomas Creations’ exclusive, high performance, flushing system built into most of our water closet models. Designed for extraordinary performance, Quattro Flushing Technology addresses the poor performance issues long associated with 1.6 gpf water closets.
Quattro Flushing Technology uses half the amount of water as traditional 3.5 gpf models and features an extra large 3” flush valve, precisely placed rim jets, extra large direct fed water jet, and 2 1/8” glazed trapway. To learn more about Quattro Flushing Technology, click on the “Flushing Technology’ tab at the top of the page.
Do St. Thomas Creations chair-height elongated water closets comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)? Yes. The ADA requirement is 17” to 19” from floor to top of the water closet seat. All St. Thomas Creations chair-height elongated water closets measure at least 17” with an installed seat.
What does “Signature Look” mean? Standard on all St. Thomas Creations water closets are a solid brass tank lever in chrome finish, deluxe color-matched seat and solid brass bolt covers in chrome finish. Bidets also come standard with solid brass bolt covers in chrome finish. Other upgraded finishes on solid brass parts are available at an additional charge.
What is the difference between a round front and an elongated water closet? Generally, round front water closet models have a smaller length bowl and are ideal for bathrooms with limited space. Elongated water closet models have a longer bowl and may be more comfortable to some.
To determine if your water closet is a round front or an elongated model, measure the distance from a line visually drawn between the centers of the seat bolt holes (used to connect the seat to the bowl) to the front rim of the water closet. If it measures approximately 16 ½" your toilet is a round front. If it measures approximately 18 ½”, it is an elongated model.
What is a bidet? Widely used in Europe for partial bathing, bidets are becoming increasingly popular in American homes. Generally used for cleansing purposes after using the toilet, a bidet is straddled facing faucet handles. The bidet bowl may then be filled with water or used with the integral, vertical spray.
Are there templates available for St. Thomas Creations lavatories? Yes, however we STRONGLY RECOMMEND that templates for our lavatories only be used as a visual guide AND NOT for cutting an opening in a countertop. It is best to have the actual lavatory on site for measurement as the size of individual lavatories can differ due to manufacturing variations.
What is the difference between a counter top lavatory and an above counter lavatory? A counter top lavatory (also known as a drop-in) is installed using a hole cut into the counter top with only the rim of the lavatory sitting on top of the counter. An above counter lavatory (also known as a vessel) is generally installed entirely on top of the counter and with a small hole cut into the counter surface for the drain assembly.
What is the MyDesign™ feature of St. Thomas Creations faucets? MyDesign™ allows you to design your own faucet from selection of spouts and handles in a variety of finishes - chrome, polished brass, satin nickel, and oil-rubbed bronze (living finish). Matching shower, tub, and bidet faucets are available for a complete, coordinated bathroom look.
